VDU Differential Pressure Transmitter
SATRON VDU differential pressure transmitter is 2-W transmitter and is used from 0-1.4 kPa to 0-3 MPa ranges. In pressure measuring applications SATRON VDU differential pressure transmitters are used for measuring the pressure of clean, sedimenting, crystallizing and sticking materials. The transmitter’s sensor is piezoresistive. The rangeability is 25:1. The transmitter communicates digitally using the HART® protocol.
Key Features & Benefits
- Versatile Differential Pressure Measurement
SATRON VDU measures differential pressure in a wide range from 0–1.4 kPa to 0–3 MPa, making it suitable for low-pressure and high-pressure applications alike. - Designed for Demanding Media
Engineered for measuring clean, sedimenting, crystallizing, and sticky process materials without clogging or losing accuracy — including slurries and viscous liquids that often cause issues in standard transmitters. - Piezoresistive Sensor Technology
Equipped with a highly stable piezoresistive sensor element for accurate and repeatable performance under varying process conditions. - High Rangeability
With a 25:1 rangeability, the transmitter can be precisely adjusted to fit a wide variety of applications without sacrificing accuracy. - Digital Communication via HART® Protocol
Seamlessly integrates with modern process control systems using industry-standard HART communication. - Robust and Maintenance-Free Construction
Built to handle aggressive or build-up-prone materials with minimal maintenance and excellent long-term stability.
Typical Applications
- Filter Monitoring:
Track pressure drop across filters to detect clogging and optimize maintenance intervals. - Level Measurement in Pressurized Tanks:
Measure hydrostatic level accurately, even with sticky or sedimenting contents. - Flow Measurement with Primary Elements:
Differential pressure over a flow restrictive device is proportional to the square of the flow. Flow restricting devices such as orifice plates, venturi tubes or pitot tubes are used with differential pressure transmitter for flow measurement. - Challenging Process Fluids:
Applications where crystallization or sedimentation may otherwise impair sensor performance. - Industrial Process Control:
Suitable for chemical plants, pulp and paper, food processing, and water treatment facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of materials can SATRON VDU handle?
It is specially designed for materials that are clean, sticky, sedimenting, or even crystallizing — including slurries and viscous media.
Can I use the VDU for flow measurement?
Yes. It can be connected to primary flow elements (like orifice plates) to measure flow via differential pressure.
What is the meaning of 25:1 rangeability?
It means the transmitter can be accurately configured across a wide range — one sensor covers multiple applications.
Is it suitable for tank level monitoring?
Absolutely. It works well in pressurized tanks, even with challenging contents.
How does it communicate with control systems?
It uses digital communication via the HART® protocol, making it easy to integrate with most industrial DCS/PLC systems.
